How did the Nomads come about?
In writing her master's thesis, Nomads founder Andrea zur Strassen got to thinking about how to re-create the 18th century reading room for the 21st century.
In our fragmented, fast paced, technology-dependent world, it seems that people have the need to connect. They want to come out from behind their computer screens and just be sociable. Also, as a nomad herself, Andrea understands what it's like to turn up in a new place, with your social network in another city…
or two.
So why not create a London network that people could just plug into and enjoy? And she did. Andrea was recently recognised by The Fringe Report as 'Best Salon Mistress'.
Thus, the Nomads was born. A social networking group for like-minded international people on the move.

You may be new in town, or a London veteran. But you want to meet new people, find your way around town, go to cool places, find a flatmate…
or a business partner, have a drink, have a laugh, get some culture, exchange ideas and information-even phone numbers.
Nomads is all about social networking, but without the try-hard attitude of other networks or private members clubs. We're just open, interesting people who want to have uncomplicated, unpretentious fun in London with other like-minded people.
We have monthly drinks parties and other events, but you have to join us to join in.
